Q: What are the benefits of online/mobile giving?

There are several benefits to giving through PushPay for both you and the church.

  • Simplicity for you and The Kirk - You will not need to remember if you gave this month or pay period, or send your offering checks when you are out of town. Online contributions require less processing from our administrative and volunteer staff since the information is logged to your donor record and deposited automatically.

  • Security - Online giving is more secure than giving with a check in that an electronic gift cannot be lost or stolen.

Q:   Is it safe to give through PushPay?

Yes. In many ways giving through PushPay is safer than writing a check because an electronic gift cannot be lost or stolen. PushPay continually manages the security of the system.

Q:   What forms of payment can I use?

The Kirk encourages electronic withdrawals through the checking or savings account or we accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express.

Q:   I currently use my bank's online bill pay feature for my donations. How is this different and should I switch?

You do not necessarily need to switch. However, PushPay donations are immediately recorded to the church and your giving history at the time of your contribution whereas your bank takes time (several days) to process and mail a check to the church. Manually processing the payment by The Kirk may add a further delay.

Q:   Can I make a one-time contribution or set-up recurring gifts?

Yes. The system allows you the option of either making a one-time contribution or setting up a recurring contribution. For a one-time contribution, you can designate that the contribution should be made immediately or, for both one-time and recurring contributions, you can schedule the contribution to come out of your bank account on the date(s) specified by you. For recurring gifts, you have the option of giving weekly, monthly, twice a month (1st and 15th) or every two weeks. You may also specify the starting and ending dates for your recurring gifts.

Q:   Can I change my personal information, the amount, or the frequency of my gift once I have set it up?

Yes. You can change or cancel your contribution at any time before the date of your next scheduled contribution (once a contribution has been processed it cannot be canceled). Simply log in to PushPay using your user name and password and make the necessary changes in the system.

Q:  Why are some transactions attributed to my household and others attributed to an individual in Fellowship One?

All online giving transactions are always attributed to the individual whose PushPay ID was used to set up and process the transaction. This is because a PushPay ID is used for one unique person and cannot be shared among multiple people. Paper checks processed by the church are usually attributed to the household. We anticipate this difference not being an issue for married couples filing jointly since it does not matter whose name is on the gift for tax purposes.

For instances where you need to show an individual's giving on a separate statement, select the person you want to display under the "contributions for" selector and click view. Click the "Download statement" link to generate a statement of the person to view.  For statements sent by The Kirk, all individuals of a household are rolled up into one statement for the household unless otherwise requested.

Q:   Will I still receive regular contribution statements from The Kirk?

You will not receive a printed contribution statement mailed to your postal address when you create a PushPay account except mid-year and year-end. InFellowship and PushPay give you the opportunity to view and print a statement at any time for the current year and past years. If you ever need additional printed statements sent to you, please contact our financial office at 918.494.7088.

Q:   Can I designate my gift to a particular ministry or account?

Yes, there are options listed in the PushPay Fund drop down menu. There are additional options for giving located on the Missions Giving page of the app listed under the Mission ministry. Additionally, during times when special campaigns are occurring, you will be able to give contributions to support the given initiative or campaign.

Q:  How will I know that I set up my gift correctly?

Very shortly, after submitting your contribution, you will receive an e-mail from PushPay verifying your contribution and you will see it in your giving history on both PushPay and InFellowship.

If giving for the first time after setting up your account, you will be able to see past giving history in InFellowship in about a week.

Q: What are your online giving security policies?

At The Kirk, we use an online database called Fellowship One and a giving platform called PushPay. Your information will remain private and will never be given away to third parties, other than to process your contributions.

You can schedule new contributions at any time and can modify or cancel those contributions at any time prior to the date they are scheduled. Once the contribution has been processed however, it cannot be cancelled. Your information is held securely by the Fellowship One and PushPay systems. Their system allows us to provide access to your contribution records and allows you to make donations online, or through your mobile device. They provide all of the security for the system. This system is used by churches throughout the country and has been fully tested by them.

There are three aspects of security related to the systems. First, Fellowship One and PushPay provide data security using the latest security technology. The following statement is from their security documentation: "[the system] utilizes the most current encryption technology to maintain the security of your data. Every parameter passed in the hyperlinks is fully encrypted. Additionally, the login module handles passwords using what is known in technical terms as salted hash. In laymen’s terms, this means it would take 50 computers (running constantly) continuously presenting password combinations four years to discover the password."

The second aspect of security relates to account creation. When you first create a new account in the system, you will be able to donate immediately, but you may not have access to any previous contribution information or the church directory if you signed up using information that does not match exactly what we already have in the system for you. If this is the case, we must manually match your previous information to the account you created.

In order to verify the authenticity of the account request, we will ensure your data matches our current records (e.g., address, phone number, and email address). If there is any question, we will contact you via email before matching. Since this is a manual process, we will perform these steps approximately once a week.

When you create your account, you will determine your own login ID and password. Your login ID is your email address. If you forget your password, you can have the system email it to you. If you need help or cannot remember the email address you used, you can contact the financial office at 918.494.7088. You can also change your password at any time.

For the third aspect, The Kirk, Fellowship One and PushPay are all PCI compliant. Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance is the adherence to a set of specific security standards that were created by the major card brands to protect your cardholder data from being stolen during a payment transaction and after. PCI compliance is required for all merchants that process credit cards, regardless of size.

Please help us keep your information safe by protecting your login information. Access to sensitive personal and financial information can be gained by letting someone else use your account or by leaving the information for someone else to see. The Kirk will never call you to ask for your login information.
