Volunteer with Our Community of Friends

Community of Friends, a ministry for people of all ages with developmental disabilities,  loves to add new friends to our programs.  We can always use more volunteers that will spend time and establish friendships with our members.  Our group is precious, welcoming, and easy to fall in love with.  We guarantee that if you volunteer you will have new friends for life!  Volunteering as little as an 1.5 hours a month can make a huge impact in the lives of our parents and members.  We are always excited to have new volunteers for any of our programs but we are currently in need of volunteers for the following times and activities:

Sunday Morning Special Buds Sunday School at 11am

This class is made up of members with developmental disabilities ranging in age from 18 and up.  No preparation required.  It is done when you get to class.  Most of our members love a friend/volunteer to sit with them and give some special one on one attention while we chit chat, pray, do our Bible story, craft, and have free time together.  Some of our volunteers come one Sunday a month and it is a tremendous help.  It will only require an hour and a half a month of your time.

Friday Night Owls

Typically meets the 4th Friday of each month from 6-9pm at The Kirk.  While parents have a night off, their kids with a developmental disability and their typical siblings play games, have crafts, watch movies, and have snacks.  The more volunteers we have the more families we can accommodate.  Some of our volunteers bring their older children to help as well.

If you would like more information or if you would like to come and visit just to see if one of these ministries would be right for you just contact Crystal Fulda at cfulda@thekirk.com or by calling the church office.
