Kirk Karpenters

Kirk Karpenters are men and women who share the love of Jesus Christ throughout the Tulsa area by building wheelchair ramps and performing other light construction projects at the homes of the needy. No prior construction experience is required! We provide on-the-job training.

Kirk Karpenters Opportunities

The Kirk Karpenters has a need for a person to recruit our weekly construction crews.  The job entails contacting existing volunteers on our roster and scheduling them to work with us on specific projects.  Most of the work will be by email and telephone.  Estimate that this is a 1 - 2 hour task each week.

In addition, we continue to need volunteers to work on our construction projects.  Typical projects include construction of wheelchair ramps, installing handrails at steps, installing grab-bars, and performing other minor home repairs for persons in need.  No experience or special skills are necessarily required.  Schedule and your level of involvement is very flexible -- most projects are on Saturdays, but there are a few midweek projects.  Come help us make a difference in the Tulsa area by sharing the love of Christ with others through these projects.

If interested in either of the above opportunities, please contact Richard Klein at RK2COR517@AOL.COM.

Whether you know which end of a hammer to hold or not, or have been doing construction projects for years, we’d love to have your help. The level of involvement is up to you. You don’t have to make a long-term commitment. We’d be happy to let you try out this ministry to see if it “fits” you. If you are interested in being a Kirk Karpenter or if you are in need of a wheelchair ramp, you may contact Kirk of the Hills at 494-7088 or kirk@thekirk.com.

We need people to talk to potential clients by telephone and record pertinent information.  The primary job skill is to be able to listen to people who have contacted the church to request help, try to understand their needs, and help perform preliminary screening in accordance with our guidelines.  There are certain forms that need to be filled out and certain letters that get mailed to our clients.  Also help maintain our backlog list.  This is a job that could be done by one person, or possibly two people could share it on alternating weeks.  The principle requirements for this job are a to have a heart for Jesus and compassion for those in need.  The work is done mostly on telephone and the computer (Word, Excell, and email).  There are many opportunities for prayer, both for our clients and also with them over the phone.  I estimate that this is a 3 to 6 hour per week job although some weeks may be more and some could be less depending on the number of people calling in to the church for help.

We also need more people to come out and work on our construction crews on Saturdays to build wheelchair ramps and perform other light construction projects.  No special skills are required -- we provide on-the-job-training.  Both men and women are welcome to participate.  We are flexible on the frequency and duration of participation.  Some people work all day, some in the a.m. only, etc.  In addition to the carpentry activities, there are frequently opportunities for evangelism, prayer with our clients, etc.  We are usually short handed on our work crews -- espcially on Saturday afternoons and especially during challenging weather (either hot or cold).

Kirk Karpenters Needs You!

Will you help Richard Klein in this important ministry? We need to add to the core of faithful workers. You do not need to be and experienced carpenter. Skilled and unskilled people are welcome. You can work a few hours on Saturdays in the morning, in the afternoon or all day long. It doesn’t need to be every Saturday. You pick the date & time.
