How did you meet your husband?
I stalked my husband Jeff in the breakroom of Amoco when it was in downtown Tulsa. He transferred to Denver shortly after we started dating so we decided to meet halfway in his hometown of Attica, KS and get married on December 26, 1981. We have two children, Katie who is 26 (married to Shane) and Daniel who is 22. I just knew that he was the right guy for me!
Could you share any lessons in parenting?
Spend time with your kids and never give up on them! If you establish good communications with them early on you will have more influence in their lives later on. They may roll their eyes at you when you tell them something they don't want to hear but you will be amazed when they repeat your words to a sibling or friend and act like it was all their own idea!
What you may not know about me?
I love to learn and have become a professional (I think they call it non-traditional) student. I graduated from John Brown University in December of 2009 with a Master's of Ministry degree. I took up crocheting (Thanks Amy Meyer) but missed homework (call me crazy) so I am attending Northeastern State University in Broken Arrow to earn a Master's Degree in Psychology (Counseling). Believe me, it is never to late to follow your dreams!
What are some of your favorite family traditions?
Our family celebrates every holiday and birthday by having dinner together. Jeff and I enjoy planning a menu, grocery shopping, and cooking. We are blessed to have my parents and our kids in Tulsa so our dinners occur almost weekly! We also enjoy it when Jeff's parents visit from Kansas and his sister and her family join us. One day we look forward to passing this tradition on to our kids but not for a long time!
