Nan Clark
Who do you admire most?
My daughter…
What is the weirdest job that you have had?
I worked the 11pm-7am shift as a nurse’s aide in a nursing home during the summer after my
sophomore year in college. Someone died the first shift I worked, one of the residents stole everyone
else’s dentures on her wing – everyday, and one of the residents asked me to marry him ( I declined).
What family traditions do you maintain?
We have gone out to dinner on Christmas Eve to celebrate my mother’s birthday then gone to the
Christmas Eve worship together since my parents came to Tulsa. When our daughter Sarah was alive this
was her very favorite (and unalterable) tradition. We went to the 11PM service after dinner. Now we
do an earlier service and then dinner…but we still worship together and celebrate Mom’s Christmas Eve
Birthday –no Christmas wrapping paper please!
What is your best memory?
Having Sarah crawl into bed with Ben and I to tell us about her day – even when she was in graduate
school.
How did you meet your husband?
At his younger brother’s wedding – he was the best man and I was the maid of honor. The bride was a friend from college. I didn’t like him very much that day, I thought he wasn’t friendly or nice…but met him again a few weeks later at a party at the same couples home and he was much nicer to me –we were married a year later.
