The New You - The Father |

Listen Now!
Has anyone ever described you or one of your siblings as the “black sheep” of the family? This week we look at the story of the prodigal son. Is there a possibility that you may be more like one of the two sons than you would like to believe or have you found the blessing in loving, enjoying and serving God for his own sake? |

This week we look at two parables Jesus uses to reveal that God’s character is to love lost people, not religious people. What change of heart does Jesus want the religious people to have? What difference might this change of heart make in their lives? |

How does focusing on Jesus rather than ourself help define our faith? Would you say that you have given Jesus the steering wheel of your life, that you are still driving but that Jesus is in the passenger’s seat, or that Jesus is still outside waiting to be invited into your car? |

It is clear throughout the New Testament that one of Jesus’ priorities was his disciples. He spent the last three years of his life teaching them about who he was and involving them in his ministry. When his time here on earth was over, he transferred his power and purpose to his disciples with the confidence that they would continue to spread the gospel to the “ends of the earth.” As Christ’s disciples we are still called to that same purpose. Let’s look at how the development of Christian character and disciplines prepare us to “take up Jesus’ cross and follow him” |

In 2 Corinthians 5.17 the Apostle Paul says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ he is a new creation; the old has gone and the new has come!” (NIV84) If you are believer in Jesus Christ, that statement describes you! What Paul is saying, in a nutshell, is that the same God who created us in the first place has re-created us in the image of His Son. The thoughts, attitudes, beliefs, purposes, habits, speech, and conduct that belonged to the old self have been re-placed with new ones! |
