Reaching Beyond Improvements @Kirk of the Hills
Have you seen some changes at the Kirk? We have completed some of the projects that the Session at The Kirk approved using funds raised in our Reaching Beyond campaign, including one of the two bigger projects. Fellowship Hall has a new stage with a large rear-projection screen as well as fresh paint and lighting. The second major project will be to make the east entrance more inviting by bringing in natural light through new glass doors and windows and by raising the ceiling. Renderings are on display in the east entrance. That project will be done by Easter 2012. Other projects include:
-
new projectors in the Sanctuary
-
major maintenance on the organ
-
adding sound treatments in the balcony
-
sound-proofing the youth den
-
adding storage for both the early childhood area and the choir
Thank you to the congregation for supporting Reaching Beyond and helping us make the Kirk beautiful and more effective for ministry.
Reaching Beyond
It is our vision to "reach beyond" our comfort zone and expand our ministry physically into a new part of the Tulsa community as well as refresh and enhance our present location for more effective ministry and future growth. The Kirk is known for missions outreach and Christ-centered ministry. The Lord has called us to expand our influence as we look to be “one church in two locations” with the addition of Kirk Crossing.
We believe this new property is God’s gift to us. We want to use it for His purpose! We seek to expand the Kingdom of God in our community and throughout the world.
Our plans to begin construction on our Kirk Crossing church are picking up steam. Late last year, Jenks City Council gave us the verbal approval to build on the west portion of our property located at 114th and S. Highway 75. The Property Development committee, headed by George Hertensteiner, are in the process to select an architect to prepare the master design. Proposals from three different firms are being considered. We will take that design to Jenks to get the final approval. Jenks City Council will also clarify the construction restrictions that will be required, such as road & utility infrastructure. In the meantime, the east portion of the property will be marketed to retailers. Any sale will include deed restrictions that will protect the aesthetics of our church building. Our goal is to break ground late this summer!
