This class is for the older 4 year olds (5 by March 1st) and five year olds. EXCEL features problem solving on a concrete level with Math and reading activities. Using Houghton/Mifflin Curriculm our degreed teachers plan units to promote fine and gross motor development, social skills, language and communication which are reinforced through self directed and teacher led activities. EXCEL emphasizes phonics, reading, writing and math skills. Spanish, science and music classes by ABC Music for Kidz are provided weekly. Our Excel students attend Chapel once a week and have computers centers in their classrooms as well. These children become more independent and responsible for themselves and their actions as they become the leaders and set the example for the preschool in the classroom and the playground. It is our goal to make all EXCEL students readers by the end of the year. This class is a perfect fit for children needing an extra year before kindergarten.
